Creative Writing Skill Applied Grammar

  • Long Answer Questions (80-100 words)   2x5=10
  • Very Long Answer Questions (150-200 words)   1x10=10

Literature Texts (Kaleidoscope)

  • Short Answer Questions (50-60 words)  4x2=8
  • Long Answer Questions (80-100 words)   2x5=10
  • Long Answer Questions (120-150 words)   2x6=12 

Fiction (A Tiger for Malgudi or The Financial Expert)

  • Long Answer Questions (80-100 words)   2x5=10
  • Very Long Answer Questions (150-200 words)   1x10=10

New Curriculum of Class-XII under CBSE for the Board Examination, 2015

ENGLISH ELECTIVE (CODE NO: 001)

SECTION - A

1. Reading Comprehension   (20 marks)

  • A literary or discursive unseen passage of about 950-1000 words will be given with some very short and short answer questions in the final exam.
  • An unseen poem of about 24-28 lines with some short answer questions will be given in the final exam to test interpretation and appreciation.

SECTION - B

2. Creative Writing Skills & Applied Grammar  (30 marks)
  • A short discursive, interpretative writing
  • An essay on an argumentative/discursive topic such as an article, report or speech.
  • Transformation of sentences.

SECTION - C

3. Literature Textbook   (30 marks)
  •  Kaleidoscope - a text book published by NCERT.
4. Fiction  (20 marks)
  • A Tiger for Malgudi or The Financial Expert by R.K. Narayan.

  • "Woven Words", a book on poetry and prose published by NCERT.   (20 marks)
  • "Arms and the Man", a drama by Bernard Shaw   (10 marks)
  • "The Old Man and the Sea", a fiction by E. Hemingway   (10 marks)
Seminar  (20 marks)
• Presentation of a book review, a play, a short story, a novel, novella (tale, fable, parable) to be followed by a question answer session.
• Poetry reading to be followed by interpretative tasks based on close reading and literary analysis of the text.
• Critical review of a film or a play.
• Conducting a theatre workshop to be followed by a discussion.
