Result of H.S. Exam, 2013: An Analysis

The Overview:

As expected, the result of H.S. Exam, 2013 has been published on 3 June this year. Some data on the aforesaid result is given below:
Total candidates appeared: 7, 43,707
Rate of success: 77.35%
Rate of success of the boys: 79.44%
Rate of success of the girls: 75.08%
Total successful candidates: 5, 68,015
Candidates scoring 60% or above marks: 11,260 (14.96%)
Candidates scoring 90% or above marks: 433

The Special Note:

Candidates scoring 60% or above marks in 2011: 18%
Candidates scoring 60% or above marks in 2012: 16.47%
Candidates scoring 60% or above marks in 2013: 14.96%
It is a matter of grave concern that the percentage of candidates scoring 60% or above marks has been decreasing year by year. The present trend of not studying the text books minutely and totally depending on notes may be the reasons. Another reason may be the irregularity in attending classes in schools. However, the new syllabus is introduced this year in class XI. It may bring some good result. But everything depends on the candidates and their sincerity, and also on their ability to utilize the school infrastructure including the teaching personnel.
